Tamara is a final year PhD student completing her research with the Ear Health team at Telethon Kids Institute. Tamara works as Clinical Research Officer in the Ear Health team and clinical audiologist part of the Djaalinj Waakinj Centre of Ear and Hearing Health. Tamara has public appointment as a paediatric audiologist at Fiona Stanley Hospital and is a Clinical Lecturer and The University of Western Australia.
Tamara’s clinical interests are in paediatric audiology, which is complimented by her research evaluating outcomes of children with otitis media (OM). Tamara works closely with the Aboriginal Community Advisory Group in determining the most culturally appropriate ways to evaluate the ear, hearing, and quality of life of children with OM.

The purpose of this study is to explore the effectiveness of a hospital-based asynchronous ear, nose, and throat telehealth service (the Ear Portal) in reducing cost and improving access for children with otitis media.

Describe the ear and hearing outcomes in Aboriginal infants in an Australian urban area. Aboriginal infants enrolled in the Djaalinj Waakinj prospective cohort study had ear health screenings at ages 2-4, 6-8 and 12-18 months and audiological assessment at ∼12 months of age. Sociodemographic, environmental characteristics, otoscopy, otoacoustic emissions, tympanometry and visual reinforcement audiometry data were collected.
