Laboratory Technical Specialist
We are looking for an enthusiastic scientist to support the XRAD SmART Cancer Radiotherapy System, Australia's first state of the art small animal radiotherapy system. In this role you will provide training and support to Researchers to enable pre-clinical research focused on radiation oncology.
You will have an exciting opportunity to assist a dynamic range of Researchers specialising in childhood diseases including cancer, leukaemia and brain tumours and be responsible for maintaining the XRAD system and providing technical support to ensure provision of a reliable and efficient facility.
The role will also support other high-end specialist research equipment at the Institute. In addition, you will have the opportunity to contribute and assist in the relocation of research platforms to the new Perth Children's Hospital.
The successful candidate will have:
- Good communication skills
- Experience in conducting research
- Demonstrated ability to operate and maintain specialist research equipment
- Experience operating in a PC2 environment
- Excellent analytical and trouble shooting skills, specifically regards to research equipment
- Experience in collaborating with users to achieve an outcome
- Excellent organisational skills and demonstrated ability to set priorities and to meet deadlines
- Enthusiastic, with the ability to work both independently and effectively as part of a team
- Proficiency in a range of computing skills including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, internet and email
This is a part time position (0.4 - 0.6 FTE) Fixed term for two years. Remuneration package includes access to generous salary packaging.
