Research Assistant Genetic and Rare Diseases
The Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity to work at the crossroads between basic science and clinical practice. The successful candidate will join a truly inter-disciplinary team composed of Molecular Biologists, Cell Biologists, Statisticians, Computational Biologists and Clinicians.
The Role
The position is full time, initially for 2 years with the possibility of extension.
The Experience
The applicant should have well developed skills in molecular biology and tissue culture, with the ability to apply knowledge for assay design in order to determine the impact of single nucleotide variants that lead to disease.
Responsibilities:
- Development of functional assays to validate variants
- CRISPR-Cas9 editing of mammalian cells
- Teaching staff and students in experimental techniques when requested
- General molecular biology and cell biology work
Requirements for the role:
- Bachelor of Science (Honours) or equivalent
- Evidence of a broad knowledge of scientific techniques
- Highly developed cell culture technique
- A minimum of 10 published papers
- Ability to conduct and record research experiments independently
