Research Officer Infectious Disease Epidemiology
The Opportunity
An opportunity for an experienced Research Officer to cover a period of Maternity Leave relief 2-3 days per week from February 2019 to December 2019 in the Infectious Disease Epidemiology team.
The Role
This role is designed to support the research activities of the Infectious Disease Epidemiology team leader in the Wesfarmers Centre of Vaccine and Infectious Disease located at Telethon Kids Institute.
The role aims to conduct epidemiological analyses associated with population-based data linkage projects investigating respiratory and other infectious diseases in children and apply for linked data for new projects in the respiratory infection epidemiology area.
The preparation of high quality manuscripts for peer-review will be required for translation of research outcomes.
Your Experience
The role would suit a candidate with relevant knowledge and experience in the analysis of population-based linked data from administrative datasets in the field of epidemiology, with a preference for experience in infectious diseases and vaccines research.
The successful candidate will have the following skills/qualifications:
- Postgraduate qualifications in epidemiology or a related discipline
- Experience in data cleaning and analysis skills using statistical software (e.g. STATA)
- The proven ability to prepare scientific reports and manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals
- Experience working within the context of a research team are essential requirements for the role.
- High levels of verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent time management abilities
- Strong computer skills
