Senior Communications Officer (Media & Video)
The Opportunity
Our Communications and Development team implements the Institute's overall communications, marketing and philanthropy strategies, as well as supporting researchers, teams and projects to promote their work and achievements.
The Role
We are looking for a media specialist to drive our media profile and develop high quality content for a range of channels. You will have the ability to identify news opportunities and then tell the story in an engaging and interesting way, including with video. You will work directly with researchers to help them promote their work through the media and provide advice and support (including media training) to them and senior management.
This is a 12-month maternity leave contract, commencing immediately. Applicants seeking both a part-time (0.8FTE) to full time role will be considered. We offer a salary range of $75,000 - $85,000 per annum (full time + super) dependent on experience, plus the opportunity to salary package.
Your Experience
The successful candidate will have a journalism, communications or public relations degree with a minimum of five years of relevant work experience. We're looking for someone who is passionate about child health and is pro-active, hardworking, hands-on and a team player.
Our ideal candidate will be someone who has:
- proven skills and experience in working with the media to achieve positive and effective publicity
- the skills to create video content including producing and editing skills
- excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work with complex research themes and language to make it accessible for a range of stakeholders
- highly developed interpersonal skills, including demonstrated ability to network, negotiate and work collaboratively with key internal and external stakeholders
- creativity, enthusiasm and a willingness to work hard for an organisation that is making a real difference to kids and families.
- a positive can-do attitude and great relationship building skills
