Welcome Crew Member
The Role
Our helpful part time Welcome Crew deliver first class services to our visitors using a range of different technologies in line our vision and values. As the face of Telethon Kids Institute, this role requires friendly, responsive, confident professionals to deliver outstanding visitor experiences via a range of interactions including in-person, via phone and online.
Key areas of responsibility include:
- Providing outstanding customer service and professionalism at all times
- Meet specific visitor needs, thereby enhancing access and encouraging return visits, especially for children with special needs
- Answering queries in a timely and efficient manner
- Providing and maintaining accurate information about Telethon Kids Institute and the Discovery Centre
- Providing operational support on conference and evening events ensuring excellent front of house assistance
- Supporting the health and safety of visitors to the Discovery Centre by ensuring a clean environment
- Liaising with campus and external partners to promote use of the Discovery Centre
- Operating the Telethon Kids switchboard and directing calls appropriately
- Opening/closing of the Discovery Centre in accordance with security and safety procedures
- Providing general administrative support
- Assisting with other tasks as required
We have more than one position available for a fixed term of 6 months. The FTE will be dependant on the successful candidates.

Some evening and weekend work may be required.
The successful candidate will be asked to provide a satisfactory National Police Check and Working with Children Check prior to commencement.
The Experience
- Outstanding customer service skills, including strong interpersonal skills, a positive attitude and ability to relate to a diverse range of people
- Great time-management skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Exceptional verbal, written communication skills and telephone manner
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent presentation
- Not afraid of technology with intermediate experience with Microsoft Office suite (notably Excel)
- Experience working with children, particularly with special needs (desirable)
